Elizabeth and Jay were great! We had an unusual request to paddle out to Crab Bank in the middle of January to see a rare bird. The temperatures were in the high 30s and low 40s with light winds, and usually those temperatures would prohibit a trip out. We dressed accordingly and Elizabeth accompanied us. We timed the trip just right with the tide. Elizabeth even loaned a pair of her neoprene boots to a member in our group. We saw the bird (Snow Bunting) and made the trip out and back safely. We highly recommend Nature Adventures on Shem Creek!

I highly recommend NAO! My two friends and I had a wonderful time kayaking for two hours on Shem Creek and visiting Crab Island. The tour guide was knowledgeable, the sights were amazing, and it was fun to kayak alone. No tandem required this time! Last November, I kayaked with my four-year old daughter, husband, and family, and it was fantastic both times! NAO is right for all types of groups. :) Can't wait to come back for the Moonlight Tour in the future.

Went out on the 1000 tour just myself and wife. Tour guide was excellent on local birds and marine life. On a august morning, definitly need to bring water. Equipment and pfd's in good shape well maintained. Staff friendly and very helpful. Definitly a repeat on our next visit here. Recommend to others.

We had a really great time on Wamba Creek - the tour was relaxing and beautiful. It was also highly educational as our guide was a marine biologist. Highly recommended!

This was the highlight of our trip! We had the absolute best tour guide, named Craig, that was also a chemistry teacher at one of the local schools. He was very knowledgeable with the ecosystems here and kept the interesting facts pouring in as we tooled around the area. Strongly recommend these guys, especially Craig!!

Yesterday, we went out on a small women's group kayak adventure to Crab Island to search for sharks teeth. Elizabeth and Ben were great from beginning to end! Some in our group had never kayaked before and our instructions were detailed and put everyone at ease. Beautiful weather, great company, lots of laughter and two knowledgable pros!! I'm looking forward to our next trip.

Ask for Ryan he was a fantastic tour guide that knew what he was talking about! He explained the wildlife and vegitation around us and was sire to ask what kind of tour we wanted (more or less talking). We chose the less talking option and saw a 4 foot gator, yellow crested night heron, multiple barn owls picking up fiddler crabs, and a copper head snake hiding in a tree log. It was totally worth the time and money! Be sure to tip your guides well they work hard 😊

Excellent guide (Matt) who was super knowledgeable and taught me more about tides than I ever learned in school!

The trip got 1 hr delayed and we waited in the sun. We had to pay $4 just to apply sunscreen and they didn't even offer a discount even though the trip was 1 hour late. One of the two guide was very friendly and informing, but the other talked for such a long time about irrelevant things.

We took the kayak tour of Wambaw Blackwater Creek in the Francis Marion National Forest with our two kids ages 10 and 13. It was a beautiful paddle up stream for an hour and 1/2 and then an even more relaxing paddle/ float downriver for another hour and 1/2. Our guide Jay was a good combination of interesting facts and guide as well as just letting us paddle and enjoy the scenery. We saw a couple small alligators, an owl and lots of birds. We had previously done a kayak trip with Nature Adventures on Shem Creek 2 years ago and enjoyed that as well. We saw lots of dolphins and birds on that trip. Two very different paddles, each equally enjoying. Good for beginners or experienced paddles.

Spent a week in Charleston and every time it rained it was at night and wouldn't you know it, 5 minutes after we get there it rains. Jim did try to get us out twice but it just wouldn't stop raining and lightning. He wanted to reschedule but we had to leave but the kids still had fun. Definitely will stop there in the future when we visit Charleston again.

Well first I would like to say that there is no minimum number of attendees for a tour and so my boyfriend and I had a private tour at no extra charge! The launching point was a little hard to find, so I would definitely print out some stellar directions. The gps only knows so much. I was worried about the kayaking at first, but it was a really easy paddle and a nice slow pace. The tour guide was knowledgable and obviously really into the flora and the fauna. The Wambaw creek was awesome, it looked (and sounded) completely untouched by man. I would definitely check out their other tours if I find myself back in Charleston!

Our tour guide, Blaine, was great. I learned a lot about the area and it was a nice, leisurely paddle along the creek.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Our guide Ben had lots of information about the waterways in Shem Creek and Charleston as well as the animals and nature. He was patient and helpful when we were just learning how to use the kayak. Overall a great experience, I would definitely do it next time I’m in Charleston.

We loved our guided kayak tour with Clayton! It was super chill and not strenuous at all. We learned a ton about the Shem creek ecosystem- especially how cool and important oysters are!! We saw one dolphin at the beginning really close to us which was awesome! Besides that we mostly just saw some birds, so not a huge amount of wildlife. It was really pretty and peaceful. Clayton gave us the option of where we wanted to go, but no one really cared so I think we took the easier route since there were kids in our group (so we didn’t go into the uplands). Besides being super knowledgeable about the ecosystem, Clayton also gave us some great restaurant recommendations and was just a way cool guy overall. While we loved the guided tour, if you aren’t really interested in learning about how the ecosystem here works, it’s probably better for you to just rent the kayaks and go out yourself.

I had kayaked on a small pond for less than a half hour so knew I wanted to "really" kayak. I called Sunday morning and they had a 2:00 tour. My 67 year old mom and I drove from Columbia and had the best time ever! We are both recently active but were concerned about ability and frankly, snakes. We were so assured when I called that neither would be a problem that we took the plunge! Fortunately, we never plunged literally, were more than comfortable with the physical requirements and even going up the creek were not afraid. Our guide was knowledgable and interesting, made us feel very safe but wasn't controlly, felt like we were out with friends. Highly recommend this company and the Shem Creek 2 hour tour! Will be back, often!

My husband and I did the guided tour at sunset of Shem Creek. Jay, our guide, was full of fun facts and knowledge of the local wildlife, plus he was interesting to talk to! The tour was 2 hours long, in my opinion the perfect length to explore the area. We saw a large group of dolphins swim right by our tour and so many different types of birds. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore in the Charleston area! Great value for the money.

Nature Adventures was great, they had a good process for the space that they have and plenty of friendly people. Our guide, Ben, was helpful, knowledgeable, and entertaining without being over the top. Our only negative was that the creek was a bit too congested, but that is outside of the company’s control. Be prepared for lots of boat traffic and other kayaking tours. We saw quite a few dolphins and wildlife.

I talked my Sister and Niece - both whom have never kayaked - into doing the 2 hour Shem Creek and Crab Bank Island tour. We had visited the Saltwater Cowboys bar the day before so they could watch other kayakers going out and get feel for what was going to happen. As it ended up - we all had an amazing time - the guide was excellent and put any fears to rest that my Sister and niece may have had. We saw dolphins - my niece saw a turtle and we got some white water waves from one of the passing cargo ships that may have been coming in a little to fast. It was great fun - I'd do it or one of the other tours they offer again when I make it back to SC.

The full moon tour was absolutely gorgeous. It was so fun and so peaceful. The tour guide, Ethan was so friendly, sweet and wonderful to talk to! He made the experience perfect. I would highly recommend, 10/10! It couldn’t have been a more perfect experience!

The Shem Creek Kayak tour was a highlight of our trip! We booked a group tour, but nobody else has booked so it turned into a private tour! The staff was extremely friendly and patient as this was our first time kayaking. Ben was a great guide and we got some awesome shots! Great opportunity to see wildlife such as dolphins, manatees, and various birds. Definitely recommend!
