We took a 3 hour swamp tour with John, in the Wambaw Swamp. John was an old hand at kayaking, but still has a passion for it. He was great in giving us beginners pointers and basics. On our lesiurely kayak tour we saw many different types of birds and even some alligators. He was very knowledgeable and patient with us.

We took a blackwater kayak tour trip on Wambaw Creek. The positives first. The trip itself was a lot of fun. Beautiful scenery, the guide was very informative, and we had a lot of fun. We even saw a couple small alligators. Also, the online directions to the starting point were very helpful and specific. They made sure to tell me over the phone to take printed directions, as phones and gps lose signal before you arrive. I had two major critiques. One is that the size of the group was too large to be optimally enjoyable. There were 9 in our party and it was impossible to stay close enough to the guide to hear what she was saying without bumping into each other a million times. If you went single file, maybe the first 3 or 4 people could hear her. Otherwise, it was constant crashing. My husband called it bumper kayaks. It would've been much better with a smaller group. The second problem is that they did not tell us there was no bathroom there. Even though I specifically told them that I was nearly 6 months pregnant. The last available bathroom is at the Shell gas station, miles before you reach your destination. The guide was apologetic, and nice enough to walk us to a spot with no poison ivy....but it was still visible to the rest of the group. Again, being 6 months pregnant, I had to have my husband help me. Mortifying to say the least. It should definitely be listed clearly on the website that there are no bathrooms (I was on the website multiple times and never saw any message like that) and especially when I spent all that time with someone on the phone, I should have been made aware of that. Other than those two things, we all had a great time.

I had an amazing time on the 2-hour kayak tour with Shem Creek Nature Adventures. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the kayaks were in great condition. Paddling through Shem Creek was a delight, with stunning views and wildlife sightings, including dolphins. Our guide Ethan provided fascinating insights about the local ecosystem. Highly recommend this tour for a fun and educational outdoor experience! Will definitely be back!

Went on a two hour kayaking tour of Shem Creek, led by Dan. He kept up an informal, interesting narrative as the small group I was part of paddled along. He pointed out the live oaks, birdlife, and the marshes. Before we set out, he gave a quick demo on paddling techniques. He kept an eye on everyone and pointed out where we should be in order to stay out of way of the boats

What an awesome company and group of people. We had so much fun on the kayak tour. Our guide, Noelle, was amazing. Very knowledgeable of the area and a really fun person. We will definitely recommend this place to other people.

Everything about this experience was perfect. Our guide Steve was extremely knowledgeable of the area and provide a wonderful history lesson while keeping us all afloat. Looking forward to doing it again.

Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish! Took my family out for a kayaking trip and we had an absolute blast. Shawn was amazing—friendly, knowledgeable, and super patient with everyone. The entire crew went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and felt confident on the water. From the moment we arrived to the final paddle back, everything was smooth, fun, and memorable. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a top-tier family adventure!

Absolutely incredible experience! We booked a tour last minute and the staff was very helpful getting us in after some other people had cancelled. Our tour guide, Sam, was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, ecosystem, and history surrounding the area which made the tour interesting as well as beautiful! She made sure to give us plenty of opportunities for dolphin watching along the way. But you will definitely need LOTS of sunscreen. Great experience and would recommend to anyone visiting Charleston!

We came to charleston on a family trip from Atlanta and wanted to take our two children to visit the water for the first time. We found nature adventures as a place to rent kayaks and even better, go on a tour. Bryson was the most wonderful tour guide and such a hit with the kids! He took us on a two hour tour down in the creeks, seeing lots of dolphins along the way, learning all the history and having plenty of laughs. He was incredibly attentive, friendly and personable and such a pleasure to have as our guide. He gave us some other great recommendations for things to do on our visit so thank you for all your help! Our children cannot wait for their next kayak adventure!!

I agree with other review. Go in am and not on weekends in summer. Most boats respect kayakers but not if they have been to happy hour. We saw dolphins and manatees and our guide Kathy was knowledgeable and chill with teenagers. Great time for the cost.

We went on a 2 hour kayak tour at 10am this morning. The weather was beautiful and the wind cooperated, the creek and harbor like glass! Our guide, Diana was the best! We saw manatees and several species of birds! We kayaked out to Crab Island, Diana did a terrific job pointing out the young birds and some fun facts about all the different species. She was a wealth of knowledge and fun too! Don't worry if you are a beginner with a kayak! A great way to spend some time outside! Ask for Diana!

We had such a fantastic time on the 2 hour kayak tour with Ethan. If you’re new to a kayak, don’t worry, it’s super easy to pick up and not strenuous. Two hours, we felt, was the ideal amount of time to get out on the water, enjoy the sights, and not be too tired at the end. Ethan was a very good guide; he provided just the right amount of information and knowledge, without being too wordy and overzealous. Some of the best moments, outside of Ethan’s details, were the solitude and quietness of just the oars and the water. Completely recommend to anyone looking to explore the local waterways. And be sure to grab lunch, dinner or drinks after the excursion on Shem’s Creek.

Steve was such an amazing tour guide! As a local who has never been kayaking Steve was very informative and I felt confident and safe. Will definitely be back!

This company is amazing!! I was very unskilled and they treated me with utmost respect! I did not make it far but my daughter and her boyfriend continued. They received an amazing tour and saw wonderful wildlife while the staff assisted me by making it all worth it. I HIGHLY recommend this adventure!!! I will be back and do it right! We had the best time! It was my first time in a kayak, but Clark made it so easy. He was an excellent guide. We saw several dolphins and hundreds of pelicans. Clark made it all very interesting and I can't wait to do it again.

We took the sunrise tour and it was beautiful. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the sea life and birds. He did move a little fast for a beginner but overall a amazing experience.

We went with our two teen girls. We decided to stick them in a kayak together. We did not have a guided tour, it was just us in double kayak's heading out. We were given a map though. We had a great time and went up and down the water way almost to the ocean. We saw lots of birds and a couple turtles, but not much else. My one daughter hated every minute of it, and the other one didn't complain at all. But in looking at them they didn't work together very well. We'd probably switch up to have an adult in each boat next time, but it's doubtful we could get her to do it again! The pricing is reasonable, the equipment was great and the waterway was very serene. Definitely worth doing and hopefully your kids will like it more than mine!
