Our kayak tour at Shem Creek was a highlight of our trip to Charleston. Matt, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, and history of the area. We saw dolphins, sea turtles, and many types of sea birds. I highly recommend taking a kayak tour with Nature Adventures if you are in the Charleston area.

We had a great kayaking experiencing with Graham! It was a nice balance of paddling and resting to learn about the history and ecosystems of the Charleston Harbor. Two hours seemed like the perfect amount of time for us!

We had such a fantastic time on the 2 hour kayak tour with Ethan. If you’re new to a kayak, don’t worry, it’s super easy to pick up and not strenuous. Two hours, we felt, was the ideal amount of time to get out on the water, enjoy the sights, and not be too tired at the end. Ethan was a very good guide; he provided just the right amount of information and knowledge, without being too wordy and overzealous. Some of the best moments, outside of Ethan’s details, were the solitude and quietness of just the oars and the water. Completely recommend to anyone looking to explore the local waterways. And be sure to grab lunch, dinner or drinks after the excursion on Shem’s Creek.

Fantastic day trip. Went on the 2 hour Schem Creek tour and had an amazing time. The guide was very knowledge and engaging. I would recommend to anyone who loves the outdoors, and wants to see local wildlife.

We had an incredible time on Shem Creek in a tandem kayak. Our tour guide, Ethan, was fun, pleasant, and knowledgeable. The water was calm, the weather was perfect, and we even saw a few dolphins right at the end of our day out on the water. Highly recommend!

I have done several 2 hr guided kayak tours through Nature Adventures. They have all been fun and very informative. Elizabeth had encyclopedic knowledge of the local birds, plants and history of the area.

Great tour guide but a little low key if you are looking for active kayaking. Great for beginners and families with kids but teens will be bored. Nice wildlife and beautiful area - unfortunately we did not see any dolphins (10am tour).

Our guide was full of information...both historical and about the wildlife...along our Shem Creek kayak trip. We saw alligators, snakes, owls - our guide seemed to have a good knack at knowing when to be quiet and let us enjoy the nature, but also how to help us discover the beauty along the creek!

Matt was a wonderful guide with so much knowledge about the ecosystem and the community. He even was concerned about a horseshoe crab we encountered on our tour. I’d definitely recommend Nature Adventures and would love to do a longer tour when back in the area!

Eric made my first time on a kayak a clam and wonderful experience. He is a knowledgeable guide including great birding information. Very thoughtful when he offered to take photos and sent them to me at the end of the trip. Dana was also wonderful to deal with as well when we made a walk up reservation. We saw dolphin and many different types of birds. Great for families too! Highly recommended. Thank you!

We absolutely enjoyed everything about our experience!! We missed the deadline for booking and Dana was so kind as to find us a slot that would accommodate all 6 of us. We then had a cancellation of 1 in our group last minute and the guide was amazing enough to share a kayak with our daughter. The whole experience all the way around was amazing and we all enjoyed and will definitely use again and try out some of the other adventures they have to offer.

Went out on the 1000 tour just myself and wife. Tour guide was excellent on local birds and marine life. On a august morning, definitly need to bring water. Equipment and pfd's in good shape well maintained. Staff friendly and very helpful. Definitly a repeat on our next visit here. Recommend to others.

My friend and I loved our kayaking tour with Charlie! We learned some information about Shem Creek and saw some amazing wildlife as well.

This was our first time kayaking and it was amazing! Our guide, Matt, was very knowledgeable regarding the regional history and nature. The kayaks were clean and comfortable and we were given proper instruction so that as "newbies" it was nothing stressful. We saw some really cool wildlife and heard some interesting facts. My only advice: 1. It was much sunnier than I had expected - definitely need to wear sunscreen. 2. The road to the loading spot was very bumpy with deep potholes - if you could drive a larger vehicle, it would be much easier to navigate than a low-riding car. 3. Keep your eyes open - there are so many cool things to see - just have to spot them!

Very convenient location and right next door to the Shem Creel Inn where we stayed. We are experienced kayakers and chose the two hour Shem Creek tour hoping a guide would be able to get us near wildlife (OK... Dolphins specifically.) While we did not see any dolphins, we enjoyed every minute of our tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took great care of our group. I only gave four stars for the guide pointed out that a shrimp boat was returning and that dolphins should follow it in. He didn't show any urgency in having us paddle in though and actually stopped us. I have to assume there was a reason for that but did deduct a star.

Great experience! We did the self guided tour. This was the best part of our trip! We saw dolphins, tons of wildlife, went under the giant oak. So so beautiful. They gave us great direction on areas to go and made us comfortable. Highly recommend. Location was super easy as well.

We had a great tour exploring Shem Creek and the harbor. Our guide Andrew was excellent and very knowledgable, particularly about the local birds. We saw dolphins on multiple occasions, found shark teeth, and learned about the harbor's ecosystem! All in all, a great experience--would definitely recommend it!

Took my family out for a kayaking trip and we had an absolute blast. Shawn was amazing—friendly, knowledgeable, and super patient with everyone. The entire crew went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and felt confident on the water. From the moment we arrived to the final paddle back, everything was smooth, fun, and memorable. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a top-tier family adventure!

I’ve been wanting to do this ever since moving here and wow I’m so happy I did!! We loved our tour with Matt, he knew so much about the history of the area and even some new history (for those who have watched Outer Banks). We would love to go again and would highly recommend Matt😇

Well first I would like to say that there is no minimum number of attendees for a tour and so my boyfriend and I had a private tour at no extra charge! The launching point was a little hard to find, so I would definitely print out some stellar directions. The gps only knows so much. I was worried about the kayaking at first, but it was a really easy paddle and a nice slow pace. The tour guide was knowledgable and obviously really into the flora and the fauna. The Wambaw creek was awesome, it looked (and sounded) completely untouched by man. I would definitely check out their other tours if I find myself back in Charleston!
